Montrell Williams Obituary – Death: 2-year-old thrown in river by father, Arius Williams

A body recovered from the Bronx River on Wednesday is believed to be that of 2-year-old Montrell Williams, the missing Bronx toddler who vanished over a month ago, according to police and multiple reports.

The NYPD Harbor Unit discovered the child’s body in the river near the Bruckner Expressway. While formal identification by the medical examiner is still pending, investigators believe the remains are likely Montrell’s based on initial observations.

Montrell was last seen on the night of May 10 during a court-approved custodial visit with his father. He was wearing a white shirt and a diaper at the time of his disappearance. Authorities say the boy was never returned to his mother, prompting mounting concern and eventually a police investigation.

The case took a disturbing turn over the past weekend when Montrell’s 17-year-old mother reportedly spotted the child’s 20-year-old father on the street and confronted him about their son’s whereabouts. According to police sources, the father allegedly responded with threats and pulled a knife. He then reportedly told the mother that he had thrown Montrell into the Bronx River.

The father, whose identity has not been publicly released, was taken into police custody for questioning. Detectives subsequently intensified search efforts in the Bronx River, where divers had been focusing their attention in recent days.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing the investigation while awaiting confirmation of the child’s identity. The tragic development has left the community heartbroken and sparked outrage over the events that led to Montrell’s disappearance.

Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish.
